I used a rebate card from my earlier rug purchase to buy the new set of sheets I had my eye on for our bed to replace the ones that were shredding by the end of last summer. My only out of pocket cost was $1 plus tax.
My daughter and I went prom dress shopping. She paid with money she had earned but found “the” dress on the clearance rack and was able to use the money she had budgeted to buy a purse and some jewelry and hair barrettes to go with it. She decided that if she got a purse to go with the shoes she bought for her graduation dress then she could wear the same shoes with her prom dress. It worked out perfectly and she was beautiful. She also got a free “makeover” for her makeup on the evening of one of her two proms from a Mary Kay consultant who needed to have a certain number of makeovers for the month.
My youngest daughter won a drawing and got $50 in certificates to a local running store. She was able to get a new pair of running shoes for just $15 then.
I switched the soap that I use to make laundry detergent. The bars were slightly more expensive but they were also bigger and so it makes more laundry detergent at a time now.
I got a digital coupon for 5% off my shopping trip and stocked up on things like canned vegetables that were already on sale getting them for just 31 cents per can.
I found two cases of last years pint sized canning jars in the clearance section for 50% off.
I learned how and made a paper bag scrapbook for my mom instead of a card for Mother’s Day coming up. It turned out really cute. More on that later.
We picked up the manager’s special on milk and got a couple of half gallons for just .89.
My near teenage son has been bursting out of his clothes lately. I will not worry about pants until school starts again unless he completely outgrows his church pants. I was able to go to Old Navy and get some shorts and shirts for him at 40% off and combine that with a $45 reward card. The combination allowed me to pay $3 – $4 for each item. He is set except for maybe some new running socks. Again, that may wait until the school year begins. For the same deal I was able to buy running capris and an active wear shirt to go with it for my youngest daughter who is into running but doesn’t love her hand me down sweatpants. She rarely gets any new clothing and was pretty thrilled to have a running outfit for her first 5K Flying Pig.
I bought Tang and Lemonade canisters on sale for $1.99 but buying a quantity of them brought them down to .99 with that special offer. I then combined this with my digital coupon for 5% off and brought the cost down another dime from the sale price for the final price of just .89 each.
